Join us to explore the innovation, energy and passion within our public service.
This event convenes some of the federal and territory governments most creative bureaucrats to understand the innovative projects and programs that are being delivered in service to our communities.
Hosted by Bonnie Shaw (Chief Innovator in Residence at the Municipal Association of Victoria), in collaboration with Kerry Jones from The Australian Centre for Social Innovation, this event brings together creative public servants who have led and maintained some innovative and inspiring work.
You’ll learn about these leading projects and programs, and the strategies, mindsets and real-world methods that have helped them steer this work.
Will Hartigan, Futures Lead, Policy, Project and Taskforce Office at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
Phillip Gould, Deputy Australian Statistician, Data and Statistical Practices Group, Australian Bureau of Statistics
Kate Callaghan, Director of Strategy & Transformation at the National Library of Australia
Richard Denning, Director, Restorative Justice Unit, ACT Government
Hosted by Bonnie Shaw, Chief Innovator in Residence, MavLab
In collaboration with Kerry Jones, co-CEO at The Australian Centre for Social Innovation
You'll be introduced to our speakers and their work via a series of project presentations and a follow up panel discussion, where we’ll cover key topics such as:
Personal qualities and/or behaviours: What has helped them lead and support innovation in government?
Shifting Boundaries: How did they shift boundaries to create transformative social impact, and what conditions made it possible?
Tips and Tricks: What’s in their big box of tips for problem-solving and perseverance?
Whether you’re deep in the trenches of policy or just starting out in the public sector, or an ally or collaborator working with the public sector, you’ll walk away inspired and equipped with the tools to turn your passion into impactful results.
Following the panel discussion, there will be opportunities for networking to build and nurture the connections that help us to thrive as creative bureaucrats. Light catering and drinks will be provided.
We want this to be an inclusive and accessible event, so if cost (or anything else) is a barrier to attend, please let us know so we can find a way for you to join us.
